Dar Ahlam is a lovely option for those wanting to slow the pace and enjoy the beauty of the Sahara.

Between the peaks of the High Atlas and the gateway to the South Moroccan desert, Ouarzazate paves the way to luxurious oases. In the shade of the hundred-year-old palm trees, hides the dreamy Dar Ahlam house, which lives according to tradition; almond trees in bloom, festival of roses, date and olive harvests. It's beautifully decorated with soft neutral colors and design that is highlights the rich Moroccan heritage. From there, set off in search of the Dadès and Draa valleys, in a chauffeur-driven 4x4, on the back of a donkey or by camel. Or make the most of the house with its pool, steam room and pleasant are to go for strolls. You can even sleep amongst the sand dunes in a 1,001-star camp. Activities include outdoor pool, Hammam, Solarium, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, motorbike, quad, buggy, camel and mule ride and hiking.

Nearby, in the heart of Berber country, the Ourika valley is one of the most beautiful and best preserved valleys in Morocco. There are tiny villages clinging to the steep hillsides, waterfalls and rocky landscapes merging with the ubiquitous desert - a wild and enticing combination on the edge of the Western Atlas. It is an ideal stopping off point for those who want to explore the desert. From here you can go and admire the Kasbahs, rose gardens and other marvels of the Sahara before coming back to have a cup of tea and eat a tagine in the shade of the city.
