Kusini Camp

Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Silver price level

Mango Opinion

This property is a sweet little tented camp located in the south-central section of the Serengeti. This location can be great for viewing the annual wildebeest migration from December to March. This is a permenant camp so great for clients who prefer those amenities like running water. Book early for this busy season.

Perfectly sited in a cluster of kopjes, Kusini is a permanent tented camp blended seamlessly into the delicate environment of the predator rich plains of the southern Serengeti.  Built around a spectacular rocky outcrop, or kopje, the camp's communal areas include a dining area, lounge and library, as well as a campfire. The views from the kopje are simply sensational - the perfect spot for sundowners and stargazing.

The extremely spacious twelve tents at Kusini Camp are shaded from the sun by acacia trees, and all are positioned carefully with views of the surrounding plains.  The private wooden veranda with comfortable furniture is the ideal spot to relax for a sun downer after a hot restorative shower.

Every year wildebeest congregate on the camps doorstep in this unspoiled and remote part of the Southern Serengeti during the calving season. The migration is iconic but there are also many other creatures to be seen - the predators - lion, leopard and cheetah plus countless zebra, gazelle and other plains game add to a diverse eco-system that evolves around you during your stay. Between definitive wildlife encounters and classic African adventures, you may gather for elegant candlelit meals and safari tales in the dining tent, have sun downer cocktails or picturesque banquets atop a nearby kopje, or spend contemplative hours in the intimate library lounge, taking stock of what you have seen.
