Zarafa Camp

Linyanti Wetlands, Botswana

Platinum price level

Mango Opinion

Zarafa is heaven on earth for people with very little budget parameters. The tents are incredible but not over designed or furnished. The concession is totally exclusive and has amazing concentrations of animals. Your schedule is totally flexible - they will bring your dinner to you if the lions are hunting and you don't want the safari to end! The dhow suite offers families or small groups a more exclusive villa style option if privacy is your main goal.

Zarafa Camp, overlooking the Zibadianja Lagoon, evokes a sense of old-style safari elegance with its four large, luxuriously appointed marquis style tents. Each tent with a large veranda and private plunge pool are positioned under cool and shady trees to emphasize the spectacular views. It is comprised of a spacious bedroom and en-suite bathroom with a copper bath and indoor/outdoor shower. The main area evokes the traditional safari ambiance of the turn of the last century. Lounge and dining facilities may be enjoyed under canvas or on the full-length deck shaded by towering trees overlooking the expansive view and the wildlife that pass by. The camp is perfect for those who favor a more intimate and personal experience or for those who prefer the entire camp for their own, exclusive use.

Activities at Zarafa are flexible to suit guests particular interests and include morning, afternoon and night time wildlife drives with professional guides in custom-built 4x4 cruisers. Guided nature walks from camp introduce guests to some of Africa's less prominent wildlife. Siesta time can also be spent in the sunken hide at the waterholes edge.

All of the iconic Chobe wildlife is present at Zarafa, ensuring a memorable safari experience. Abundant plains game can be found here including lechwe, kudu, buffalo, zebra and giraffe. It is also a predator-rich reserve, including cheetah, wild dog, lion, and leopard. The massive herds of elephants are another highlight, while a wide variety of birds, some 300 plus, can be seen.
