Setam Lodge is the newest addition to Ranomafana hotels. It is the most up market with 10 bungalows each with en-suite private bathrooms. These are well appointed and the en suite bathrooms are clean and functional. The lodge is built on a steep slope and surrounded by indigenous forest. It is the closest lodge to the Ranomafana National Park gate. The restaurant overlooks the Ranomofana valley and forest beyond. The lodge, which offers the newest accommodation in the area, is set above the forested river valley. It has a large Malagasy and Oriental restaurant with huge glass windows offering great views of the rainforest that surrounds the lodge. There is also a beautiful breakfast veranda with comfortable garden furniture and umbrellas. It's 20 twin or double comfortable rooms are housed in 10 separate single story bungalows set on a steep hillside, all facing towards the river valley below. Each is tastefully decorated in Palissandre wood and has an en-suite shower room and toilet. Setam Lodge, despite its simplicity, is well located and provides the best facilities in the area.
Setam Lodge is located close to the entrance of the Ranomafana National Park, arguably the best Malagasy rainforest for bird watching, with Brown Mesites, Henst's Goshawks and Rufous-Headed Ground-Rollers in residence. It is also a key destination for viewing rare endemic species such as the Golden Bamboo Lemur, which the Park was specifically set up to protect, 11 other virtually extinct lemur species and numerous reptiles and frogs
