Okavango Delta, Botswana

Mango Opinion

We love to recommend sister camps Machaba an Gomoti Plains all the time for their classic style, great guiding and service. We except the same at Kiri Camp. A bonus here is that due to is private concession location, a variety of activities are offered from drives, to walks, to baiting safaris.

Kiri Camp is set on the banks of the Kiri River in a private concession, providing a luxury getaway to the world famous Okavango Delta. The camp boasts some of the best game viewing in Africa, with a variety of species present across a range of wet and dry habitats. This part of the Okavango is unique in that it receives a large accumulation of water from the annual floods, creating huge floodplains of shallow water which are ideal for a moroko ride. Black and white rhino can be found in the Moremi section of this conservation area. It’s a great spot for encountering the Big Five as well as wild dog packs.

Accommodations at the camp consist of eight luxury double tents and two family tents. The canvas tents are set on raised wooden decks with panoramic views of the Kiri Plains. Each tent is accessible via a natural walkway.

There are a variety of activities to partake in at Kiri Camp. When the floods recede, driving and walking tours of the island are available. The camp also has a Mekoro safari in a dugout canoe poled by an experienced poler in the shallower waters of the Okavango for views of life on the river such as hippos, bathing elephants, and an abundance of waterfowl. The Kiri River is also accessible for large boat excursions.
