Chem Chem is a real treat. The location is right on the Southern banks of Lake Manyara with zebra and wart hogs strolling around. The drive time is about 30 minutes into Tarangire National Park but worth it in our opinion. The landscape is a gorgeous mix of doum palms, baobab trees and grasslands. Chem Chem is an important part of the equation reestablishing this important game corridor between Lake Manyara NP and Tarangire NP. Walks along the lake, afternoon dips in the pool after a long day in Tarangire and sunsets on the western wall of the Great Rift Valley make this a seriously interesting place worthy of consideration if budgets afford.
Chem Chem lies in a 10,000 acre private wildlife concession between Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara. This is an important game corridor that Chem Chem has reestablished. There is an astonishingly diverse and abundant array of wildlife that lives here, including elephants, lions, antelope, giraffes and many others.
