Welcome to Planet Baobab, the baobab capital of the World and the boundless lunar landscape of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. After settling into your cozy hut, take a stroll with your Guide through the surrounding baobab forest, while he explains the local ecology, geology and the unique biology of the baobabs.
DAY 2 - After breakfast, take a tour of Gweta to experience modern African village culture. Learn about the history and traditions of the Batswana. Visit the primary school with its outdoor classes. Set off to visit a local cattle post, where you will be shown around a traditional Botswana home. On reaching the lunar landscape of Ntwetwe Pan, and after listening to a brief safety talk, zoom off on your quad bike for a lightning tour of the archaeology, geology and zoology of the area. Go where no man has ventured before - far across the vast and empty salt pans. Enjoy a barren and beauteous sunset, barbeque dinner and camp out under the phenomenal Makgadikgadi skies.
DAY 3 - Head off with your Guide in search of some of the Kalahari’s most fascinating inhabitants, the meerkats. Due to an ongoing habituation programme, it’s possible for guests to get up close and personal with these captivating creatures. On chilly mornings, you might find a meerkat snuggling up to you for warmth. Or using your head as a sentry lookout post.
