This is our alternative if Chobe Safari Lodge is full and it is a good second option. It is newer and therefore has nicer rooms, but an increased cost goes with it.
The game drives are plagued by there being only 1 entrance for all vehicles to enter and depart Chobe NP, so the crowds are inherent. The afternoon boat cruise is worth the trip and a highlight to many Botswana safaris. We suggest this property to people with a moderate budget who can save a little here to put towards the luxury fly-in lodges in the Okavango Delta.
Chobe Marina Lodge is located in the northeastern corner of Botswana. The Chobe River, Chobe National Park, Kasane Forest Reserve, the Caprivi Strip, and the mighty Zambezi River, each offer their own attractions.
Accommodations at Chobe Marina Lodge include the modern comforts of air conditioning, television, telephones, mini-bars and daily housekeeping. Other amenities include ceiling fans, in-room safes, mosquito nets and mosquito repellent machines, tea/coffee making facilities, and hairdryers.
Two restaurants are on site for dining options, as well as a pool and riverside bar overlooking the Chobe River. The Lodge's lush and expansive gardens are home to an abundance of wildlife, including the legendary fish eagle, warthog, squirrel, mongoose, vervet monkeys and fruit bat.
With the world-renowned Chobe National Park just 10 minutes away, an encounter with Africa's awesome foursome (elephant, leopard, lion and buffalo) is definitely in the cards. A riverboat cruise to the park will introduce you to a totally different game viewing experience.
Other activities to enhance your experience at the lodge include a well-stocked curio shop, a leisurely sightseeing cruise to Sedudu Island, or for a more thrilling experience you can try your hand at fishing for the famed tiger fish, which inhabit the Chobe and Kasai River systems. And when not out and about visiting the many attractions in the area, the swimming pool is an ideal refuge. Golfers too are catered to with a golf course in close proximity to the lodge.
