Mikumi National Park, Tanzania
Vuma Hills Tented Camp
Mikumi National Park is enroute from Dar Es Salaam toward the Selous Game Reserve and is also a very wild area of Africa. We have not been to Vuma Hills Camp yet - but know the Fox family and believe they offer a great quality of experience. There are rumors of this being a great place to see wild dogs. — Mango's view
Vuma Hills Tented Camp is perched above the trees stretching over the seemingly endless wilderness southwest of Mikumi National Park. In Kiswahili Vuma means a good rumor that is spread with the blowing wind. Now a reality rather than just a rumor, it is the ideal place to evoke the true spirit of Africa.
The Camp has 16 spacious and comfortable tents, all with a rather old fashioned colonial decor. Sleeping under canvas at Vuma is a far cry from the discomfort usually associated with camping. Complete with shaded wooden veranda at the front and en-suite bathroom facilities, with a shower, basin and toilet, at the back, there is not much to be asked for. Each tent has a double and a single bed and is mosquito proof. Electricity is provided by generator and there are lights and sockets in each tent. All water is solar heated.
The dining room overlooks the swimming pool creating an oasis of tranquility in the dusty hot climate of the lowlands in which to savor the varied and well-prepared meal cooked with pride by the camp chefs.
