Grumeti Private Reserve, Tanzania
Sabora Tented Camp
We have not gotten to Sabora yet and can't wait! This new property is on track to be the next 'elite' of lodges in Tanzania! Their partnership with Singita is promising. If your pocketbook will allow you to stay - you are sure to have an amazing experience! The rooms and lodge look stunning and the wildlife in the Grumeti corridor is said to be incredible! This is a great location for viewing the annual wildebeest migration in June and July as it makes its way towards the Masai Mara and November when they are on their return trip south.

Located in the western corridor of the vast Serengeti, amidst over 400,000 acres of pristine wilderness, lays Sabora Plains Tented Camp in Grumeti Private Reserve. Because the reserve is in an exclusive reserve, it is available only to guests. The area is completely protected and patrolled to ensure absolute and total privacy.
Sabora Tented Camp offers guests the opportunity to experience the elegant safari lifestyle of days long past. The camp accommodates only 18 guests in luxurious comfort. Located on the vast Sabora Plains, the 9 tents have spectacular views of the savannah. The spacious air conditioned tents feature a bedroom and reading area, bathroom with bath and outdoor shower, viewing deck with your own Swarovski spotting scope, and a library lounge tent.
Meals are taken under elegant awnings, tables set with crisp white linen, the finest porcelain, crystal goblets and silver, with a fabulous chef serving the freshest and tastiest cuisine. The camp also has a dining room, lounge, wide viewing deck, heated plunge pool, Jacuzzi, tennis court, spa and Colonial Trading Post.
Game drives and walks can be enjoyed with the professional guides. Other activities include archery, lawn croquet, mountain biking, equestrian pursuits. The Equestrian Center is situated adjacent to Sasakwa Lodge, and is home to sixteen horses and a mix of polo ponies. The Center includes a lunging arena, fenced paddock, and a walled 2.7 km riding track, which can also be used for walking and jogging. More experienced riders can enjoy out rides onto the Serengeti plains. Tack is English style, and guests have the choice of either English or Western saddles. All horse activities are led by qualified professional horse guides. Optional hot air ballooning is also offered.
In the dry season, after the great herds have departed for greener pastures in the north, the Grumeti draws in large concentrations of resident wildlife. Elephant, cape buffalo, giraffe, zebra, gazelle, impala and topi all seek life sustaining water from the river. Even in places where the river runs dry, water flows just beneath the sand and many species dig to find it. Still others congregate around the remaining pools of the river. Because the animals gather here all through the year, Sabora Tented Camp offers a constantly changing and completely private wildlife spectacle.
