Anse la Raie, Mauritius

Paradise Cove Hotel & Spa

This is a darling honeymooners spot. All things considered, this is a high value option. Paradise Cove has great rooms, ramains more adult oriented, good snorkeling location and near Grand Bay.  — Mango's view

Paradise Cove Hotel and Spa is situated on the northern shores of Mauritius, at Anse la Raie, and five km from Grand Bay. This charming residence is the coziest high-class resort in Mauritius. The 67 rooms were completely renovated at the beginning of 2003. Their modern comfort blends harmoniously with a decor of precious wood, shimmering silks and vibrant colors, reminiscent of olden days in Pondichery. They nestle in a tropical prize-winning garden and meander around a sheltered cove and beach. The peninsula, with its small secluded creeks, enjoys a spectacular and romantic view over one of the largest lagoons in Mauritius as well as the five northern islets.

The rooms comprise 20 Pondichery rooms, 27 1001 Nights rooms, 18 junior suites, and 2 senior suites. All the romantic rooms are situated on the top floor, with ceilings built-into the roof, which create a more homely and intimate setting. They offer magnificent views over the lagoon. The suites are more spacious and include a lounge area. Senior suites also have two terraces overlooking the beach. All rooms include a balcony or terrace, with a view over the ocean, beach and gardens, air conditioning, bath robes, telephone, internet access, television with remote control, satellite channels and radio, mini-bar, in room safe, hair dryer, 24 hour room service, CD player in senior suites, and laundry service.

The culinary world at the hotel matches the art of cooking with a personalized service. The main restaurant, La Belle Creole, is very friendly and divided into three dining rooms of Asian, Indian and African/Creole inspiration. It overlooks the pool and turquoise blue cove, set in white sand and crowned by a magnificent waterfall. Every day, you will be welcomed for breakfast and dinner, with a choice of four menus, which highlight an array of international and Mauritian dishes. The romantic La Cocoteraie, open for lunch and dinner, is decorated with lovely wooden furniture, in the shade of a straw hut or of coconut leaves.

The Panoramic Restaurant is displayed over the peninsula, poised over the ocean and its myriad blues, to reveal a stunning view of the five islets, bordering the coastline. The Cozy Corner is in the heart of the residence. The terrace of the cocktail bar opens onto the garden, the pool and the beach and offers snacks for lunch. A great meeting place for five oclock tea and pancakes, a few days a week, the bar dons its evening clothes, by candlelight, for evening drinks and shows.

Leisure activities abound. All guests can enjoy an intimate cruise in a nine-seater catamaran, with a friendly crew (a nominal fee is required for lunch and drinks), two freshwater pools with overflow, including the spa pool, water skiing, glass bottom boat, snorkeling and gear, windsurfing, sailing, Pedalo boats, single and double kayaks, the fitness center, tennis courts and bicycles. For a fee, guests may indulge in Spa Cinq Mondes beauty treatments, scuba diving with P.A.D.I certified instructors, parasailing, safari in a submarine, deep-sea fishing, and a 9-hole golf course 20 minutes away.
