This is a lovely property situated right next to the Africat Foundation. Watch out for the giant warthog that they keep as a pet "lawnmower". — Mango's view
Your stay right on the grounds of one of the worlds renowned wild cat researching and rehabilitation foundations will be memorable. Okonjima Luxury Bush Lodge is home to the AfricCat Foundation featured in award-winning documentary films on the Discovery Channel.
Okonjima consists of two accommodation areas; the Main Camp and the Luxury Bush Camp. The Main Camp has comfortable en-suite garden-view and mountain-view rooms as well as en-suite twin tents and en-suite single rooms. Meals are taken at the Lapa or gathering place. The Luxury Bush Camp is run independently and is located 3 km away from the Main Camp at the edge of the wilderness area. Eight thatch roofed chalets with large double beds make up the accommodations. The chalets are designed with a unique combo of earth tones and khaki green canvas. The chalets have en-suite bathrooms, lounge areas, mini-bars, ceiling fan, telephone and safe. In addition, there is the Private Bush Suite with two luxury rooms and the African Villa, with two suites and two luxury rooms.
Meals are served in the beautiful dining area with a lounge and fireplace. Guests also enjoy use of the swimming pool.
You will have the opportunity to participate in a full day of radio tracking the first rehabilitated cheetah on the Cheetah Tracking Trail, enjoy game drives to view big cats in their natural environment or simply lay by the pool spotting many of the 300 indigenous species of bird in the area. Each night the wild leopards are fed, giving guests a chance to watch these magnificent predators from the safety of a nearby hide. This is truly a cat lovers dream.
