South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Nkwali Camp
Nkwali is likely our favorite property in the central Mfuwe area of South Luangwa. It can be a great starting point after lots of travel to reach the area. Robin's house is perfect for families. — Mango's view
Nkwali Camp is located on Robin Popes private land, overlooking South Luangwa National Park. The land is superb game viewing country, with a beautiful area of ebony woodland and open grasslands. Elephants regularly cross the Luangwa River, seen from the bar, or come to the waterhole near the thatched dining room.
The six chalets accommodating only 12 guests are cool and spacious, overlooking the river. They have semi-open air en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets, double basins, and double showers. There is a refreshing swimming pool so guests can relax and take a dip if they like in the afternoons.
Access to the park is by boat or the nearby pontoon. The area is famous for leopard and giraffe sightings. Activities include game drives in specially equipped 4x4 vehicles, night game drives, guided walking safaris, and visits to the nearby Kawaza School. During the green season boating trips may also be available.
Nkwali is open all year and the seasons are basically divided into the dry season (mid May - October) and the green season (November - mid May).
Includes: All meals, drinks (except premiums), laundry and safari activities
