Mwagusi Camp

Mwagusi Safari Lodge is located in the northeast of Ruaha National Park on the banks of the Mwagusi Sand River. This is the most beautiful section of the park, and has exceptional game viewing. Animals frequent the camp, giving you the opportunity to watch impala, warthog and guinea fowl during the day, and listen to the elephant and hippo walking by at night.

The camp is built almost entirely from organic natural materials with guests being treated to a unique tented safari experience. The main camp area consists of a large dining tent with lounges decorated in local fabrics, overlooking the sand river. Each of the ten en-suite tents is comfortably secured under a cooling thatched roof and nestled snuggly into the sandy banks of the Mwagusi River. The best of game viewing can be experienced from the seclusion of your private veranda.

Each banda has en-suite facilities with flushing toilet, an unlimited supply of hot water, shower, sink, shelving, a large mirror and good night-time lighting. Built using stones, driftwood and bones the bathroom is an area of interesting, unique and original design. Thick comfortable towels and locally produced clove soap are provided.

You can choose from escorted game drives and bush walks. There will be plenty of opportunity for game drives and walks throughout the area in our specially adapted open sided 4WD vehicles, each with comfortable seats and high shade awning to enable one to stand and still be in the shade while game viewing. Each vehicle is equipped with reference books and bean bags for photography, medic kits and all the necessities for a day in the bush. They also carry radios for communication with the camp. The staff and guides at Mwagusi are friendly and knowledgeable.
