Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Kusini Camp

This property is a simple and sweet tented camp located in the south-central section of the Serengeti. We love the Moulton Brown bath products! (Hey - this company is run by ladies!) If you are lucky, you may get to see the resident striped hyena that lives nearby! This location can be great for viewing the annual wildebeest migration from January to March.

While this area has LOTS of wildlife, you must obey the park rules - so no night driving and there can be tsetse flies in the valley below.

Perfectly sited in a cluster of kopjes, Kusini is a permanent tented camp blended seamlessly into the delicate environment of the predator rich plains of the Serengeti. Kusini offers a safari like no other. Every year wildebeest congregate on the camps doorstep in this unspoiled and remote part of the Serengeti during the calving season - what better way to experience the wildebeest migration than with a Tanzania safari holiday to Kusini Camp?

The migration comes with its own retinue, and the predators - lion, leopard and cheetah plus countless zebra, gazelle and other plains game add to a diverse eco-system that evolves around you during your stay.

Kusini sits exclusively in this remote region of the Serengeti, affording guests the rare opportunity for secluded game drives and intimate walking encounters well away from the principle tourist circuit. Kusinis expert guides enhance your stay by sharing their knowledge and experience gleaned during a lifetime in the bush.

The twelve tents at Kusini Camp are shaded from the sun by acacia trees, and all are positioned carefully with thought out views of the surrounding plains. Each tent has its own personal attendant to look after guests during their stay. The private wooden veranda with comfortable furniture is the ideal spot to relax for a sun downer after a hot restorative shower.

Between definitive wildlife encounters and classic African adventures, you may gather for elegant candlelit meals and safari tales in the dining tent, have sun downer cocktails or picturesque banquets atop a nearby kopje, enjoy tranquil siestas watching the animals that often visit Kusinis waterhole, or spend contemplative hours in the intimate library lounge, taking stock of what you have seen.
