Chindeni Bush Camp

Chindeni is a fine camp, but lacks the uniqueness of the other Bushcamp Company properties, Chamilandu and Bilimungwe. As part of the Bushcamp series, this is a fun stop for walking enthusiasts on a multi-day camp crawl.

It is a healthy drive from Mfuwe so best booked for 3 nights or as part of a combination of camps in this vicinity. It is a good game area but not the best in Luangwa terms.

In an enviable location on the edge of a lagoon where hippo chortle and elephant wallow, stands Chindeni - undoubtedly one of the most beautiful tented camps in the South Luangwa.

Raised on wooden decking, with stripped wooden floors, four-poster beds, cozy sitting rooms, en-suite bathrooms and vaulted canvas ceilings, Chindenis spacious tents are so inviting you could be forgiven for never wanting to leave your room. Especially when you can see so much wildlife just by stepping onto your own private deck jutting out over the lagoon. Two of the tents have twin beds (queen-sized beds) and two have doubles (king-sized bed).

Chindeni is a sister camp to Bilimungwe, but has an altogether different theme and character. The camp nestles on the apex of a permanent oxbow lagoon, offset by the magnificent Nchendeni Hills.

The lush and wide permanent lagoon which stretches out from just beneath your own private balcony ensures that you need make little effort as you lazily watch all types of game parade before you in the joys of the verdant pantry at your feet. Ancient ebony trees with their sweet fruit shade the bar and dining area and an adjacent, gently sloping walkway provides access to a lagoon-side retreat. From here, guests can enjoy an open air dining experience or the spectacular sundown as it reflects from the still waters of the lagoon.

Chindeni is located 6 km from Bilimungwe. An early morning walk between the camps will provide an ideal opportunity to enjoy two of our trail camps in one stay. The seclusion of your stay and the abundant wildlife combine to make these luxury camps an experience not to be missed. With optimum accommodation for six guests (maximum eight guests), this secluded camp provides the perfect location for the ultimate bush experience.
